A 41-year-old man accused of murder after a hit and run in Christchurch will appear in court on Friday. 

Police launched a homicide investigation on Thursday after the death of a man on Four Elms Place in the suburb of Parklands.

Detective Inspector Michael Ford said a man was "reportedly struck by a vehicle which then left the area" and he died at the scene. 

On Thursday night police said a man had been charged with murder and no one else was being sought in relation to the matter. However, anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to police should get in touch via 105 quoting file number 200730/8065.
