A 17-year-old who took off from a youth facility in Wiri two weeks ago has been found.

The boy was located at a Manurewa address on Friday night and brought in without incident.

He's been charged with escaping from lawful custody and will appear in Manukau Youth Court on Saturday.

"We hope that this outcome brings reassurance to our communities and I would like to acknowledge the police staff who have worked on this matter since the escape occurred," said Det Insp Chris Barry.

It's believed he and another teenager escaped through the window of the facility before fleeing across a roof and through a carpark.

The other teenager, a 16-year-old who committed murder at just 14 years of age, was found last week.
