Three people dead after separate crashes in Canterbury and Masterton

Three people are dead after two crashes in Canterbury and one in Masterton lead to a night of carnage on the roads. 

One person died after a crash on North Parade Road in Richmond, Christchurch at 9:30pm on Sunday. 

Another crash in Christchurch also left one person dead after a car rolled at the intersection between Christchurch Akaroa Road and McQueens Spur Road at 9:30pm.

Earlier in the  night, a pedestrian was hit by a car on High Street in Masterton at around 7:13pm. 

The person was taken to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition and later died, police said. 

Police are investigating all three crashes and the serious crash unit has been advised. All of the roads are open.
