Glenfield Pool and Leisure Centre on Auckland's North Shore has been closed after a woman's "sudden death" on Monday morning.

The centre posted a message to Facebook announcing the closure, which will see it shut until Wednesday.

"Due to a major incident, Glenfield Pool and Leisure Centre is closed today and tomorrow - we apologise for any inconvenience this causes you. Kauri Kids will remain open," it reads.

"Please keep an eye on our page for updates on reopening."

Emergency services rushed to the North Shore address after the incident.

A photo from a member of the public shows multiple police cars outside the leisure centre.

"Something's happening at Glenfield Pool. Doesn't look good," they told Newshub.

Police remain at the scene.

"Police were called to reports of a sudden death of woman at an address on Bentley Ave, Glenfield, shortly after 10:30am this morning," a police spokesperson told Newshub.

"The matter will be referred to the Coroner."
