A person living in an Auckland apartment complex has tested positive for COVID-19.

A letter to residents from the Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) says a person living in The Landings, Parnell has been moved to a quarantine facility due to their positive test result.

ARPHS says the infected case's household members have also been moved to a quarantine facility.

"All other residents in both buildings are considered 'causual contacts'. This means they have not been close enough to the person with the virus, or for long enough to be at higher risk," the letter says.

The apartment complex is made up of two buildings. One has 115 apartments and the other has 105, according to its website.

"Most residents will not have been exposed to the virus at all."

All residents at The Landings should keep an eye out for COVID-19 symptoms, the letter says, especially over the next 14 days.

ARPHS adds residents should contact Healthline if they do show symptoms, and when they do call they should say they're a casual contact of this case.

"They can tell you what to do next. Please stay at home and away from work if you are sick until you have received further advice."
