The New Zealander of the Year Awards Office on Wednesday provided an update revealing who Kiwis had been voting for since nominations opened.

With 12 days remaining to get nominations in, 1330 Kiwis had already been nominated across New Zealander of the Year and its supporting category titles.

These included a "significant number" of nominations for Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield as well votes for Newshub National Correspondent Patrick Gower, fashion designer Kelly Coe, musician Dane Rumble, Kiwis in London founder Clint Heine and The Rock radio host and mental health advocate Bryce Casey.

There were also a number of votes for microbiologist Dr Siouxsie Wiles, radio host Simon Barnett, Mittens the Wellington celebrity cat and political figures such as Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Green MP Chloe Swarbrick and ACT Party leader David Seymour.
