A person has been taken to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition after an incident in Mt Wellington, Auckland this morning.
Witnesses told Newshub a homeless person stabbed another in the eye in the Penrose Rd shopping complex.
Ambulance staff say they found the person by the neighbouring Countdown supermarket.
Police said the incident happened just after 8am.
"The victim is in a stable condition in hospital. Police will conduct a scene examination and enquiries are ongoing to locate the offender."
The supermarket's front entrance is cordoned off but the shop is open.
