Knife-wielding man robs New Plymouth service station

Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at a service station in New Plymouth on Thursday.

A man entered the service station on Leach St at around 10:15pm with a knife and demanded cash and cigarettes from the shop assistant.

The offender then fled, running down Leach St. Police understand he may have then turned left onto Cameron St.

The shop assistant didn't receive any injuries during the incident but is shaken up and receiving support.

Police are asking for the public's help to identify the offender, and anyone with information should call New Plymouth Police on 105 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
