Canterbury September earthquake, a decade on: One of Newshub's first reports on the disaster

It's been a decade since the 2010 Canterbury earthquake, which destroyed buildings and left others uninhabitable.

The magnitude 7.1 quake hit at 4:34am on September 4, 2010, tearing homes and roads apart, causing extensive liquefaction and other widespread damage.

Its epicentre was south-east of Darfield - about 40 kilometres west of Christchurch.
