Coronavirus: 2 new cases of COVID-19 in the community

The Ministry of Health reported on Saturday afternoon there have been 2 new cases of COVID-19 detected in the community, and three people remain in hospital.

Both new cases are linked to an existing cluster that stemmed from the berevement sub-cluster.

One of the cases is a student at Sunnyvale Primary School in Henderson. The child was not infectious when they last attended.

Auckland Regional Public Health Service has not identified any close contacts among the school community.

Three people remain in hospital with COVID-19. One is in isolation in a ward in Auckland City Hospital. Two are in intensive care at North Shore and Waikato hospitals.

There remain 33 cases in the Mt Roskill Evangelical Fellowship group and there are now 15 cases in the bereavement events group.

Leaders of the Mt Roskill Evangelical Fellowhip group have actively encouraged all members to get retested for COVID-19 and comply with the rules, such as self isolation.

"We want to thank them again for their participation in contributing to our efforts to control the wider Auckland cluster," a media spokesperson said.

63 people are linked to the community cluster and remain in the Auckland quarantine facility.

The total number of active cases is now 108. 38 are imported cases and 70 are community cases.
