A woman who escaped the custody of Corrections earlier this month has been located and arrested.

The 22-year-old spent two weeks on the run, after getting away on September 11.

She was found in Massey, west Auckland, overnight. A 47-year-old man at the address was arrested too.

"Police made the arrests with the assistance of the armed offenders squad, Eagle and other staff," said Supt Jill Rogers.

"Both individuals were taken into custody without any further incident. I would like to acknowledge the police staff who have been working diligently on this matter to locate this individual.

"We hope that this arrest brings some reassurance to the community."

Both will appear in Manukau District Court on Friday. The woman has been charged with escaping custody, and the man with being an accessory after the fact.
