The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is offering a US$10,000 (NZ$15,268) reward for any information on a Kiwi man accused of crimes including sex trafficking by force and child sex trafficking.

Thirty-six-year-old Michael James Pratt, originally from Christchurch, was allegedly involved in recruiting young women for commercial sex acts between 2012 and 2019.

He has lived in the US since 2007 and is considered "a fugitive".

Pratt has ties to or may visit several countries including New Zealand, Australia, and Italy, the FBI said in a statement.

"The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of Michael James Pratt.

"Pratt and a co-conspirator owned and operated a pornography production company and online pornography websites, 'GirlsDoPorn'and 'GirlsDoToys'."

It is alleged the women they hired were tricked into being in porn videos, assuming they were being hired as "models".

The FBI says Pratt and his associates would later tell the women they'd be in pornographic videos, convincing them by saying they'd remain anonymous.

Some women weren't allowed to leaving filming locations until they took part in the sex acts, according to the FBI.

"Allegedly, some of the women were sexually assaulted," the statement said.

While Pratt's location remains unknown, co-conspirator and fellow Kiwi Matthew Isaac Wolfe is currently being held in a San Diego prison.
