Police will investigate two early morning fires at churches in Christchurch. 

Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) crews were called to the Kingdom of Jehovah's Witness in the suburb of Parklands just after 3am.

A FENZ spokesperson told Newshub two crews remain at the scene.

Thirty minutes later FENZ was called to the Cardboard Cathedral where a room was on fire.

"Police will be making initial enquiries and scene guards are in place," a spokesperson said
