A fire near the South Island town of Timaru on Tuesday night is being treated as suspicious.

Crews were called to the blaze at a sports field changing room block, just before midnight.

No injuries are reported, and an investigation will happen on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the cause of a massive fire on Auckland's North Shore remains unclear.

Fire and Emergency were called to Triton Dr in Rosedale just before 8:30pm after a two-storey building caught fire.

The fire was so large it triggered a third alarm and almost two dozen fire engines were working to extinguish it.

Firefighters got the fire under control at about 1am, however, the cause of the blaze remains unclear. An investigation will likely be conducted on Wednesday.

No injuries were reported.
