A homicide investigation is underway following the death of a 10-month-old baby in south Auckland on Sunday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin Tiernan told Newshub the baby was transported to hospital from Manurewa on Saturday night.
"The baby was transported to Starship Hospital last night and sadly died this morning," he said.
Police are speaking to several people in relation to the death, Det Snr Sgt Tiernan added.
A scene examination is underway on Sunday and a post-mortem examination is scheduled for Monday.
Police were unable to comment further due to being in very early stages of the investigation.
