A 45-year-old man has been arrested for an alleged assault in Dunedin where a 16-year-old girl was punched in the face, police say.
On Tuesday night, police received a report of the alleged assault in Albion Pl at about 9pm. The man followed the victim and proceeded to punch her, Acting Snr Sgt Anthony Bond told the Otago Daily Times.
The victim, who appears to be known to the man, was taken to hospital for treatment, a police spokeswoman told Newshub.
"A 45-year-old man has been charged with male assaults female," the spokeswoman said.
She said the man is due to appear in the Dunedin District Court on October 1.
