A man who halted a Fullers ferry on Saturday after refusing to wear a mask labelled those who confronted him "f***ing cucks" and a "bunch of cowards".

In footage of the incident he later uploaded to Facebook, he is seen arguing with passengers and staff using profanities.

As shocked onlookers pleaded with him to wear a mask so they could go home, the man proclaimed it wasn't his actions that were stopping the ferry - it was the Captain's fault.

"I'm not the one stopping the boat you f***king cucks," he told the other passengers who had previously called him a "dickhead".

"[You're a] bunch of cowards. My body, my choice, ever heard of it before? I'm a f***in real human, I'm not a slave," he continued, as passengers grew more and more frustrated.

In a series of follow up posts on Facebook, the man said complaints from police and Facebook had led to his video being deleted. He apologised for his foul language but said the situation was "not an amusing one".

"I do oppose continued lockdowns and this whole scenario which is destroying our economy, jobs and accruing massive debt which is not pouring into elderly care facilities where over 90 percent of cases have died," he wrote.

He denied stopping the boat by refusing a mask, saying the boat was already stationary when the conflict kicked off.

"I didn’t wish for passengers to be delayed, so I then asked for a mask and to get us home."

Police were informed of this incident and said there was misinformation regarding the person.

"Police are aware of misinformation relating to this incident, where it is implied the person involved was a member of Police," a spokesperson said.

"This is not the case. The person is not a current or former employee of Police."

"Police continue to take an education and encouragement approach and no infringements have been issued to date."
