Three people have been taken to hospital after a fire broke out in Queenstown last night.

Emergency services received the call just after 2am, and arrived at a two-storey building on Huff Street.

At its height, 25 firefighters from five different brigades across the region were working to control the fire.

Seven people in total were treated, and three were taken to Lakes District Hospital, one in a moderate condition, the others in a minor condition.

The fire is now under control and a fire investigator is on the scene.
