Two major house fires on South Island's West Coast

Fire crews in the West Coast have been kept busy overnight as they battled two separate house fires.

Emergency services were called to Alymer Street, Ross just after 2am where the house was well alight.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson told Newshub crews were also called to Queen St in Westport at 5am to another home engulfed in flames.

There are no reports of injuries and investigators will be heading to both scenes later on Sunday morning.
