Coronavirus: New Zealand has one new COVID-19 case in managed isolation

One new case of coronavirus has been detected in New Zealand in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health has announced.

The new case tested positive while staying at a Christchurch managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) facility.

They arrived from the US on October 8, and returned a positive test on around day three of their stay. They have since been transferred to a quarantine facility.

The new case brings the total number of confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases to 1872 - but, for the 18th successive day, there are no new cases of community transmission.

In addition to the new case in MIQ are seven additional recoveries, which see New Zealand's total number of active cases drop to 39. All of these are imported cases.

There is no one is in hospital with COVID-19.

Meanwhile New Zealand's laboratories processed another 3017 tests on Monday, bringing the total number of tests completed to 1,005,807.
