Three new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Saturday by the Ministry of Health, all found in managed isolation facilities.

The first, staying in Christchurch, arrived from the UK via Singapore on October 9. They tested positive on day three of their stay.

The second and third came from the UAE on October 13, and are being transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility. They also tested positive on day three.

"Our total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 is 1527," the ministry said.

"Nine people are now recovered which means our total number of active cases is 40 - all imported cases. There are no active community cases of COVID-19.  There is no one in hospital with COVID-19 in New Zealand."

So far 1,026,725 tests have been done.
