A Kiwi has reportedly been charged with breaking Western Australia's (WA) quarantine rules on multiple occasions.
The Australian Associated Press (AAP) reports that the 32-year-old New Zealander, who resides in the Australian state of Queensland, was granted approval to cross state lines and travel to WA for work.
As part of the agreement, he was required to quarantine in a Perth apartment for 14 days. ABC reports this was the Mont Clare Boutique complex.
However, it's said that during a compliance check on Friday, the man was not found in the apartment, but instead in front of the complex. Police also allege that the man had been socialising with a 30-year-old man isolating at the building.
The pair were warned they would be fined $1000 if they again failed to comply with the quarantining requirements.
But when officers were leaving the complex, they say they found the Kiwi again at the front of the property. He was told he would be moved to a secure quarantine facility, but became "aggressive and hostile towards the officers", a statement from WA police reportedly alleged.
After a "short struggle", the man was arrested and taken into custody.
He's now been charged with four counts of failing to comply with a direction and has been refused bail.
