A Christchurch mall has stood down a security guard after footage of him tackling a woman to the ground appeared on Facebook.

In the video, the security guard at South City Mall can be heard screaming "get out of my mall" at a woman who is allegedly trespassing.

The pair continue to argue and scream at one another before the guard grabs her and pins her to the ground.

While pinned to the ground the security guard tells the woman to "never come back again," and forces her to repeat the statement.

A spokesperson for South City Mall told NZME the woman featured in the video and the woman filming were both trespassed prior to the incident.

They were taken into custody and have been charged with wilful trespass. They are due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on October 26.

South City says they have launched an internal investigation into the matter and it has been referred to police.

The security guard has been asked to stand down but has not been referred to police.

"We have asked our security contractor to stand down the employee involved while the incident is fully investigated," the spokesperson told NZME.
