Child airlifted to hospital from west Auckland beach in critical condition

Two people were airlifted to hospital on Saturday afternoon after falling out of a boat at an Auckland beach, one reportedly a child in a critical condition. 

According to NZ Herald, the young boy and man in his 40s were flown from Cornwallis Beach to hospital by Westpac Rescue Helicopter 

The child was taken to Starship Hospital and the man was taken to Auckland Hospital. The man is in a moderate condition. 

A Westpac Helicopter spokesperson told the NZ Herald they were called out to Cornwallis Beach after a kayaker helped rescue the pair when they fell out of a boat.
