The Nurses Organisation say it's disappointed another quarantine worker has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Ministry of Health announced one new COVID-19 case on Friday - an Auckland quarantine facility worker.

The worker was tested regularly, returning a negative test on November 4 before developing symptoms on November 5.

The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) says the fact another MIQ worker has contracted COVID-19 is "both disappointing and troubling, but not at all surprising".

Two previous community cases were reported this week - both MIQ workers in Christchurch.

The first case tested positive on Monday and the second person - a close contact of Monday's case, tested positive on Wednesday.

NZNO associate professional services manager Kate Weston says Counties Manukau District Health Board has failed to address the systemic problems at the facilities after multiple calls for change.

"Inadequate access to PPE and poor training in its use has been an issue we've known about since this all began," she says. "And here we are again."

Weston again called for a full and urgent review of how MIQ facilities are run to identify systemic failures.

"We need to identify systemic problems across the board and address them with urgency," she says.

"Until these issues are resolved, the risk to New Zealander will remain very real because we can expect more nurses and other health workers will contract COVID-19."
