A man has apparently been shot dead north of Auckland on Saturday night and a homicide investigation has been launched by police.
Emergency services were called to Wayby Station Rd in Wellsford at 7:45pm after reports someone in a vehicle had suffered a gunshot wound.
A man was found dead at the scene.
Det Insp Scott Beard said a scene guard remained in place overnight.
A police investigation was underway on Saturday night and an update would be provided on Sunday, he said.
