Police continue to look for evidence after Elizabeth Zhong's body found in car boot

The death of an Auckland businesswoman whose body was discovered in East Auckland, still remains a mystery.

Elizabeth Zhong, 55, was reported missing on Saturday morning and police later confirmed they had found her body.

Newshub understands she was found dead in the boot of her car outside her Sunnyhills home.

Police have launched a homicide investigation, and have begun examining CCTV footage from the area.

As well as cordoning off this property, police also closed a nearby street yesterday - focusing on a parked vehicle.

Elizabeth Zhong's neighbours have told Newshub she kept to herself, they didn't know her well, but police had visited her address before.

Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers says they expect the investigation to take some time.

"While a post-mortem examination has now been completed, we are still currently working through formal identification procedures."

"Police will remain at the address this week as we expect this scene examination to take some time."

"We have received a number of calls with information since Saturday, which our enquiry team are assessing as part of the investigation."

Police continue to ask anyone that may have information to contact 105 and quote the file number 201128/1909.
