Police say they are taking multiple reports of shootings in the south Auckland suburb of Ōtara "very seriously".

On Friday night police responded to three reports of gunfire and another incident where firearms were presented.

According to Stuff, a home understood to be a base for the Tribesmen gang was shot at multiple times and several vehicles were smashed. Police say the incidents may be linked.

"Police recognise this type of incident is of concern to our community and we take these reports very seriously and are investigating," a police spokesperson told Newshub.

"Scene examinations are being conducted and there will be an increased police presence in Ōtara."
