The University of Auckland says all exams which are scheduled for Friday will now be held online.

It comes after a student at AUT, who lives and works in the Auckland CBD, tested positive for Covid-19 with health officials saying at this stage no direct source of infection has been identified.

The university said in a statement that exams on its central Auckland campuses (City, Grafton, Newmarket and Epsom) will be held online

Scheduled start times will remain the same, but the exams will run for an additional 30 minutes, the statement said.

Staff and students at all its Auckland campuses are being asked to study and work from home tomorrow, where possible, but anyone who does need to be on campus is asked to wear a mask.

The university has apologised for the late notice and for any inconvenience.

Civil Defence has also issued advice for Auckland's city centre.
