More than 100 people in downtown Wellington spent a cold Thursday night queuing for the latest model of a brand of sneakers, with some having been in line since Wednesday.

The Nike Air Jordan 1 retro Mocha shoe goes on sale on Friday.

Arian - who was number 47 in the queue - said he had already spent one cold night lining up, and was happy to do another.

"The shoes go for $260, they are a cool colourway and a lot of people wear them and honestly they are really cool.

"You can sell them for $500 or $600 so people can profit from them.

"I'm going to keep mine, and I'm going to get a pair for my missus."

And his Odyssey is not over yet, after nabbing the Jordans he will immediately join another overnight queue to get some Yeezy V2 fades which come out Saturday.

Seb, who was number 80 in line, got there at 5am on Thursday.
