The Police Dive Squad has found a body in the Manawatū River near Foxton.
A person was seen earlier on Monday on a dinghy in part of the river near the township, known as the Loop, but the boat was later found with the motor running and no-one on board.
Police were alerted about 8am. A helicopter searched the area without success, and the dive squad located the body about 4.15pm on Monday.
The Coroner has been notified.
