A Christchurch man has been hospitalised in a critical condition after an assault in the suburb of Bishopdale on Tuesday night, and local police are appealing for information.
Emergency services were called to a residential address on Newmark St about midnight, where the man was located with serious head injuries.
As of Wednesday morning, he remains in hospital with critical injuries.
"Police are looking to speak with anyone who saw what happened, or may have information that could be of use," Det Insp Mike Ford said in a statement. "Police would also like to speak to the family and friends of the injured man."
He said officers will conduct a scene examination on Wednesday and speak with witnesses.
