The Ministry of Health on Saturday reported nine new cases of COVID-19, all in managed isolation.

No new cases were reported in the community.

Of the nine, eight are active and one historical.

One case arrived from the UK, via the US, on November 30. One came from Sweden via Qatar and Australia, arriving here on December 1. Another arrived from the US on November 23.

Four arrived November 30 from the US, travelling separately. One arrived from South Africa on November 26 in the same travel bubble as a previously identified case.

All have been transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility.

The historical case arrived on November 21 from the US via Hong Kong.

"Once again, the varied origins of these cases is a clear reminder that as COVID-19 continues to batter countries and jurisdictions around the globe, mandatory isolation and testing will continue to be of critical importance as high numbers of New Zealanders return home before the holiday period," the ministry said in a statement.

"The Ministry of Health again wants to thank all staff at the managed isolation and quarantine facilities for their efforts in keeping New Zealand safe."

Eleven patients have now recovered, bringing New Zealand's total active case number down to 59. The total confirmed to date is 1772.

Forty-three members of the touring Pakistan cricket squad have tested negative.
