Hawke's Bay shaken by earthquake

The Hawke's Bay region has been rattled by an earthquake which struck north of Wairoa.

The magnitude 4.4 quake struck at 8:24am on Monday, causing moderate shaking.

More than 500 people felt the quake, which struck at a depth of 25km, with Geonet reporting some people as far as Tauranga noticed the shaking.

Of 523 felt reports, 32 described the shaking as moderate and 236 said it was light.
