Serious crashes overnight in Nelson and Auckland

Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash on State Highway 6, southwest of Nelson.

Police were called to the intersections with Nuggety Creek Rd and Owen Valley East Rd at around 5:45am after a vehicle with four people inside it crashed.

Three are out of the car but ambulance staff are with a patient going in and out of consciousness.

A helicopter has been called to the scene from Nelson.

In other incidents, one person died in a crash about 3pm Friday on Hampden-Palmerston Road in Otago, and there was a crash on Auckland's Southern Motorway late Friday night which saw the Lambie Dr offramp and the northbound lane closed.
