Six boys arrested after teens allegedly robbed at gunpoint in central Auckland

Six boys have been arrested after allegedly robbing a trio of teenagers at gunpoint in central Auckland.

Police were called to the apparent aggravated robbery near the intersection of Morningside Dr and Sainsbury Rd, in the suburb of Morningside, at 7:15pm on Monday night.

Three teenagers said they had been approached by a larger group of youths, who'd allegedly threatened them and pulled out a firearm before robbing them of their belongings.

The Armed Offenders Squad responded to the incident, and soon after located the six people involved at Morningside Train Station, just a 10-minute walk away.

Each of the boys was taken into custody, and police recovered all the stolen property, Auckland City Crime Squad's Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Armstrong said.

However no firearm was located by police.

"Thankfully, the three victims were not injured in this incident, however they are understandably shaken," Det Snr Sgt Armstrong said.

"Police are currently making further enquiries, however the matter will be referred to Youth Aid."
