Suspected Wellington murder victim named as Rau Tongia

The victim of a suspected homicide in Wellington has been named by police.

Rau Tongia was found dead in the driveway of a Karori property on Sunday morning. Police were still at the Percy Dyett Drive property on Monday morning, accompanied by a forensic team. 

Detective Sergeant Steve Wescott said they had been at the address in the early hours of Sunday morning before the 33-year-old  was found dead, having been called to a disorder incident. 

"The community can expect to see a significant police presence in the area over the coming days, as we seek to provide reassurance to local residents and speak to potential witnesses," said Detective Sergeant Steve Wescott.
