Teenager remanded in custody after threat to Wellington High School

A teenager charged in relation to a school shooting threat has been remanded in custody.

The young alleged offender, who cannot be identified, appeared in the Wellington Youth Court on Tuesday facing one charge of possessing a firearm, and another of possessing ammunition.

He was remanded in custody of Oranga Tamariki.

The teen was arrested in connection with a "serious, credible" threat to Wellington High School in November which forced the school into lockdown.

Another youth will be referred to Youth Aid, which works with schools to prevent reoffending and revictimisation of children and young people.
