Police have been stood-down following reports of an incident allegedly involving firearms at a property in east Gore on Tuesday afternoon.

The armed offenders squad (AOS) had earlier been called to an incident on Hamilton St just after 2:30pm, with some nearby businesses put in lockdown as a precaution.

Members of the public had been advised to avoid the area, but cordons have been now been lifted and businesses allowed to continue operating as normal.

"Officers have made enquiries in the area and are satisfied that no one is at risk. No one was injured and no arrests have been made," a police spokesperson told Newshub.

"Enquiries will be ongoing in relation to the circumstances of this incident.

"Police thank members of the public for their patience while staff attended."
