The Eagle helicopter has been used to arrest a man acting suspiciously in the Auckland suburb of New Windsor.

Video taken from the Eagle early on Monday shows the man sneaking around the properties before he's swarmed by several police officers.

"Eagle directed ground staff to this man's location where he attempted to evade police.

"He was taken into custody and afterwards a bag allegedly containing a firearm and a large quantity of methamphetamine was located nearby," police said in a statement.

Police said a suspected clandestine methamphetamine lab was also located at a nearby New Windsor address.

"A 33-year-old man has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession for supply of methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine and unlawfully being in an enclosed yard.

"He is now before the court."
