Fire at Waikato ironsand mine

A fire that broke out at a mining site in Waikato has been contained.

Fire and Emergency reportedly were called just before 10am, and arrived at the Taharoa ironsand mine to find a well-involved blaze. 

Crews from as far away as Cambridge were brought in to douse the blaze, and by 1pm had brought it under control. 

There are no reports of injuries.

Fire and Emergency told 1 News earlier there was no danger the fire would spread into the nearby forest.
