Firefighters are battling a scrub fire at Punaruku, south-east of Paihia in the Far North.
Fire and Emergency says it received multiple call-outs to the fire around 12:40pm. Around 1.5 hectares of vegetation is now ablaze at Russell Road.
Thirty firefighters and two helicopters with monsoon buckets have been called to help tackle the fire.
It's not known if any properties are at risk.
