A man has been charged with double-murder after two bodies were discovered at a Hāwera property in the early hours of Monday morning.
"We can confirm one person has been charged with two counts of murder," a police spokesperson confirmed to Newshub.
A homicide investigation was launched by police following the discovery of the deceased, Area Commander Inspector Belinda Dewar confirmed in a statement on Monday morning.
The bodies were located by emergency services at around 2:50am at the Manawapou Rd property.
The man was arrested at the scene without incident and had been cooperating with officers in their investigation, Insp Dewar said.
The 21-year-old is expected to appear in New Plymouth District Court this afternoon.
