Emergency services are responding to a car fire on State Highway 1 on the Kapiti Coast.
Police confirmed they are attending to the incident near Airlie Road in Pukerua Bay.
The car blocked both lanes causing a backup of traffic down the highway, however police confirmed the road is now cleared.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency said there was stop/go traffic management in place.
"Road users are advised to expect delays in both directions."
