Two people have been charged with murder after a dying man was dropped off at Christchurch Hospital on Friday morning.

The 46-year-old victim, Kane Alan Wayman, had critical injuries and died soon afterwards.

A homicide investigation was launched, and police on Saturday morning said they had made two arrests - a man and a woman, both aged 24.

"This is a tragic event and our thoughts are with Mr Wayman's family," said Det Snr Sgt Joel Syme.

"Scene examinations are underway and will continue in the coming days.

Anyone who has not come forward with information is asked to contact police via 105 and quote file number 210101/6148. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Stuff reports a raid by police investigating Wayman's death was carried out on the South Island headquarters of the Mongols MC biker gang on Friday night.

Both the accused will appear in Christchurch District Court on Saturday.
