Two women have been charged in relation to the murder of Wellington man Rau Tongia.

One woman has been charged with his murder and will appear in the Wellington District Court on Thursday. The second is accused of being accessory to the 33-year-old's murder after the fact.

Tongia was found dead in the driveway of a Karori property on December 20. Police had already attended a disorder incident at the property earlier in the evening - a third person was charged with assault in relation to this call out.

The investigation into Tongia's death is still ongoing and police have not ruled out the possibility of further charges.

Anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious in the area of Percy Dyett Drive on December 20 is urged to contact police on 105.
