A motorist's behaviour has been branded as "extremely reckless, dangerous and very concerning" by authorities after they were filmed spinning their vehicle across multiple lanes of a major road in South Auckland.
Footage of the reckless driving, shared to the popular video-sharing platform TikTok, shows the motorist spinning the vehicle in 'donuts' across multiple lanes, before speeding through a red light at an intersection.
The name of the road and when exactly the footage was taken is unclear.
Acting Waitemata road policing manager Inspector John Thornley told Newshub that police could not confirm if the reckless driving was reported.
However, Insp Thornley said the motorist's behaviour put the lives of innocent road users at risk.
"The driving behaviour is extremely reckless, dangerous and very concerning to police. That type of behaviour could easily cause a crash and puts the lives of innocent road users at risk," he told Newshub on Wednesday.
"If anyone witnesses that type of driving behaving we urge them to call 111."
