One person has died in a collision between a car and a motorcycle in the Auckland suburb of Pakuranga, police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the fatal crash at the intersection of Pakuranga Rd and Ti Rakau Dr in the south-eastern suburb shortly before 8am on Sunday.
Although injuries were initially unclear, a police spokesperson later confirmed the motorcyclist had died at the scene.
The serious crash unit has been advised and the road could remain closed "for some time", the spokesperson said.
As of 10:30am, the road remained closed and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing, the spokesperson said.
