Coronavirus: Ministry of Health reveals new locations visited by additional Auckland COVID-19 cases

The Ministry of Health has revealed new locations visited by Auckland's additional COVID-19 cases - including a Subway and McDonald's.

The outbreak began when a family in south Auckland became infected. The mother of the family works at LSG Skychefs, the father was a self-employed tradesperson and the daughter goes to Papatoetoe High School.

On Wednesday it was revealed another two people had caught the virus. Both cases are students at Papatoetoe High School - one is a classmate, who had already been identified as a close contact of the infected daughter. The second is the new case's sibling.

A spokesperson for McDonald's confirmed on Wednesday one of the Papatoetoe High School students was employed at its Cavendish Drive Manukau restaurant.

The restaurant has been closed for an "immediate" deep clean, the spokesperson said.

"We received notification from the Auckland District Health Board (DHB) Wednesday afternoon of a McDonald’s staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19.

"The DHB notified us that this person had worked a shift on Saturday afternoon, prior to the change to alert level 3."
