LSG Sky Chefs products will return to supermarkets this week after being pulled from North Island supermarket shelves last week.

The catering company removed its products "out of an abundance of caution" after it emerged last Sunday that one of the cases detected in Auckland's recent community outbreak worked there.

The woman works at LSG Sky Chefs, a company which caters for airlines.

It also provides ready-to-eat meals to Foodstuffs, which owns and supplies to New World, Pak'n'Save and Four Square supermarkets.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we acted in the best interest of customers, team members and New Zealand communities when we removed LSG Sky Chef products from the shelves," a Foodstuffs spokesperson said in a statement.

"Government authorities have communicated that LSG Sky Chefs' operational sites continue to operate at a global standard and are fully compliant to the Food Safety standards with no food safety risk to consumers."

Customers will start to see LSG Sky Chefs sandwiches, ready-to-heat meals and muesli on store shelves again this week.
